today was graduation day for me.
I started the day with the usual routine of preparing for work. Since today I'm going to Sheraton Hotel, I might as well dress up. After much thinking, I decided to long striped pale pink mants, beige boatneck and my suit. I wld be heading to my Chairman's office by the way. I got up extra early for the certs to be signed. (there was last minute changes)
I reached Singapore Technologies Electronics Ltd at 8.20 am. Waited for the receptionist to arrive.
As soon as she did, she asked me to call Ms Lee Keng myself. I did, and got the signed certs immediately.
When I went out of the house, I only remembered that the most important thing to bring along is the certs. But, they are only secondary to the digital camera I borrowed from my uncle. So I had to detour back to my house to bring it. Funny I only tot of bringing the certs.
Had a scolding from my boss about this. But I dun care. If I dun bring the camera, then y I borrow from my uncle in the first place..?
Had a meeting about graduation, briefed everybody about their job roles, and did our best to cover the sudden hiccups. The moment I sat down at my workplace, I just kept working continuously. the only rest I had is when i went down to buy a drink.
After a morning of heated discussions, everyone of us pulling long face, angry with the person who caused it all. All of us faced obstacles one and another, and each of us had our ways of dealing with them.
Headed to Sheraton Towers Singapore at 4.30 pm. Stopped by at 6th Avenue to buy snacks.
When we came to Sheraton Towers Singapore, I was shocked that combined ballrooms 1 & 2 are soooo small!! The tables are cramped together!!
Frankly speaking, the first graduation event was at Orchard Hotel. It seemed to be bigger because the dining tables had sets of 10. Everything was laid out nicely. Everything was prepared. We just had to do our things.
But as I went on to do labeling, time passed quickly and soon, it was time the participants arrived. Then I rushed to do the work, and boss ordered us around. I was very tensed at that time, and ran in and out of the ballroom several times. Before the hall and the stage, there are dining tables. There are some hotel people standing around, all smartly dressed and ready for action. Most of the waiters are malay.
My colleague, Azean has a really sharp eye and caught me glancing at them.. (Didn't realize that I wasn't discreet.)
When I was helping a malay guy install the banner, or just holding one end of it, he started taping the top with a black scotch tape. I asked him. Why don't use the string? He replied there's nothing to tie to. So came along this person who asked the banner guy what is he doing. They exchanged a funnie conversation. He came nearer to the stage. I actually asked him to help me hold my end then i cabut..! haha.. naughty..
There's something about this guy. He is tall, fair, has coloured hair, and had a chinese look. He had small almond shaped eyes. He's mixed.
My colleague, Azean has a really sharp eye and caught me glancing at him.. (Didn't realize that I wasn't discreet.)
When he came in and out of the kitchen, doing his rounds as usual, he's the type who moves silently.
When dinner time came, I sat down with Azean to eat. Later I stopped midst to take pics. (Couldn't help myself.)
Went around the tables to take group pics of students. I received requests to email the pics.(but the preparation work is terrible.) Had the most fun mingling with CQM 9 intake class. The class was noisy, good rapport with the rest, lots of laughter and jokes around. They even teased me, giving me shock of my life. I became very close to them.. haha.. The second class would be CRE 15th Intake. Hmm.. the same as above..
I believed that having worked together as a team, overcoming some hiccups along the way, all bonded us closer. I think that working together helps us to find out our weakness and strengths.
I have really enjoyed myself. I even became siao, thanks to the infectious Azean. Joking and laughing with each other, teasing people. Making people happy, enjoying every moment of the night.
Gary (CRE 15) invited me along to go for a drink around Newton area with the rest of the class, but alas, I couldn't. How I wished I could, but had to stay back until the whole event ends.
Time ticked away.. When I went outside, there were two malay guys, one tall and the other short.. Again, the tall guy (this time different) hovered around the buffet set. Michael Pang went to the durian custard puff and ordered him to take away the whole set. Kumaran stayed back to chat with me. He told me that it is best to take away the food. But they won't be held responsible if anything happens to us.
Again, Azean's sharp eyesight caught my eyes wandering again. Hmm.. Indirectly I was having a ball of my time checking people out. Gosh.. it's really nice.. hehe.. But too bad I couldn't get to pose with all of them. only with the F&B manager, Mr Kumaran. I also dun have the guts to ask dem oso..
The people started packing up. Most of the chairs and stage are already cleared when I suddenly remembered about our bags. Ran to the stage and went to the right side of it. One of the guys came to me, and asked me what happened. I told him our bags are under the table.
He climbed up the stage.
I followed suit. There wasn't any stairs to help me, but I managed all the same.
He lifted the skirting of the table and true enough, all the bags are there.
He instructed one guy to bring the stairs over, while I was busy gathering all the bags together.
Spent some time taking pictures. The interiors are soo nice, its awesome!
The dining tables looked like sushi when viewed from a storey earlier. Took 2 pictures of those..
Rested at the bench while Azean smoked her cig.. and browsed through the pictures in the cameras. Her boyfriend called her, and they had their usual little quarrels.. the things couples do..
Iris went to Orchard Hotel to meet her boyfriend... I tot that she would be shacked, but was surprised she still had the energy to hang around.
Azean shared a cab with me.. It turned out the cab fee is 17 bucks.. muahaha.. boss tot that he could reduce cost.. skali tebalik..
